One of the best ways to develop as a Photographer is to participate in competitions. By doing this you can compare your efforts against fellow members to sharpen your skills and learn how to take better pictures.

Monthly Competitions

Our Camera Club runs monthly competitions that alternate between Set Subject and Open Subject.

  • Colour Print - A & B Grade
  • Mono Print - Open Grade
  • EDI - Open Grade

Set Subjects are chosen by members, all members can nominate a subject for future competitions. Forms are available from our Competitions Secretary.
Monthly Competition - Programme 2008 - 2009
Listed Competition Subjects will be shown two months after the listed due date.
EDI entries are excepted every month - for both open and set subject competitions.
July 10th 2008 - Reflections    Nominated by Pat Stenson
Any photograph of reflection(s) which makes an interesting picture. The reflections may range from figurative to abstract.   Entries due July 10th
August 14th - Open Competition   Entries due Aug 14th
September - Wheels    Nominated by Wendy Benson
Anything resembling a wheel.
October 9th - Open Competition
All entries will be considered for the David Tilley Memorial Trophy - Most Creative
November 13th - Bridges    Nominated by Pat Stenson
Any bridge old or new.
December 11th - Open Competition
January 8th 2009 - Table Top Still Life    Nominated by Val Purdy
A man-made arrangement of inanimate objects. The picture may contain man-made objects, those from nature or a combination of both.
February 12th - Open Competition
March 11th - Kids World    Nominated by Carmen Nawrocki
Items of interest to children - blocks, toys, pedal cars or fairies, etc. A child maybe included in the image but the image is to show the environment.
April 9th - Image of the Year Competition    (All enteries must have been entered this competition year)
All entries will be considered for the J&J Dallinger Memorial Trophy and the Pelican Award - Best Nature Image
May 14th - Portraiture    Nominated by Rob Grant
Formal or informal pictures of people. Head and shoulders or whole figure studies, self portrait etc.
